Mark Gonzales è senza dubbio il paradigma di skater-artista. Personaggio e skater poliedrico. Considerato come una delle fiamme originali dello street skateboarding nato a San Francisco negli anni 80. Il Gonz è capace di trasmettere e d’esprimere se stesso sia sopra la tavola che davanti a qualsiese supporto pittorico possa trovarsi.
Non è difficile beccarlo in giro per il Lower East Side di Manhattan o in qualsiesi degli skatepark dell’isola più urbanizata degli USA.

Nella Coyote Skate School-Scuola Skate Milano la esperienza e’ un grado, un fattore importantissimo all’ora di scegliere i nostri istruttori, quelli che metteranno in pratica il nostro sistema di insegnamento e la nostra filosofia. E’ per questo che non cerchiamo campioni quando scegliamo i nostri maestri ma persone capaci di fare quello che devono insegnare e sopratutto capaci di trasmettere quello che sanno agli altri, rispettando e rispecchiando la nostra filosofia sullo skateboarding e il surf. Una filosofia basata sulla educazione alla liberta’ e al divertimento.
Sebbene siamo una ASD affiliata al CONI e rispettiamo le scelte degli altri ci teniamo a dichiarare, come già’ fatto in altre occasioni, che non aderiamo all’idea dello skateboarding e il surfing al interno delle Olimpiadi. Non pensiamo siano degli sport che si possano rinchiudere tra gli stretti margini che lasciano questi tipi di eventi ma sopratutto consideriamo che non sia conveniente per lo spirito di entrambi nostre attività. Tutto questo detto di chi agonista e’ stato e ha anche consigliato e allenato surfisti nella loro strada verso la competizione. Sia in SurfClinic che nella Coyote Skate School-Scuola Skate Milano non abbiamo mai avuto una squadra agonistica perche perche crediamo che rinchiudere i nostri allievi tra le pareti della competizione sarebbe contrario al nostro modo di vedere le cose.
Detto tutto questo ci rimane soltanto darvi la notizia che stiamo lavorando nella costruzione del nostro nuovo Skatepark Indoor a Milano, uno spazio esclusivo per i nostri surfisti e skaters dove vogliamo aiutarvi a raggiungere le vostre mete, quelle tracciate da voi stessi e non da altri.

Sometimes we people are so much into material things, living a life that is not our but the reflection of the messages imposed by marketing, branding and opinions of others. When I traced the map for the Coyote Skate School I had so clear that our school had to be something different. Something far from the traditional marketing related with skateboarding, mainly because we are not a brand but an Ateneo made from people to people, from skaters to skaters.
This is why we have not an uniform, we don’t sell merchandising and we don’t care about being considered “cool” or “hardcore skateboarders”. The only thing we care about is to make our kids happy. We want to share with them, and with you, all those things we feel when skateboarding or surfing. And for us the only way to reach this point is being ourselves. Being absolutely free.
We rather prefer the imperfection of the streets, or the cracks and potholes of the Parco Lambro Skatepark than the finest skateboard facilities, because we consider skateboarding as something coming from the people and not from brands and companies. We want skateboarding honest and real.
Skateboarding is about joy but also about falling and experimenting this kind of pain that makes you know that you are alive. You will feel it and you will love it as we love the feeling of the spring’s sun over our heads and the taste and smell of the winter in the Park.
At this point we can proudly say that we are not part of the “Skateboarding Industry” and we don’t want to be part of it. We just wanna skateboarding and transmit our values and way of live to the next generation.
